Kathy Monkman
has had a life long love affair with design and has a reputation
for conjuring up beautiful things for next to no cost. She has been
in the design, manufacturing and craft show field for 24 years.
Kathy has exhibited in such craft shows as, “One of a Kind”
and has sold design concepts to multinational companies. She has
been featured in decoration magazines and news casts including:
the Ottawa Citizen, House and Home, Midday, CBC News and Regional
Contact.
She began teaching rustic twig making at St. Lawrence College
in Brockville in 1993 and has since taught workshops for the Board
of Education in both Ottawa and Toronto. She has expanded her
love of crafts workshop, teaching it in several community colleges
in Ontario, and has inspired students from Eastern Ontario all
the way to Northern New York.
Kathy uses simple tools to equip students with principles that
will enable them to put their creativity to work and independently
build a variety of great projects. Her workshops generate wonderful
reviews as they stress high creative output in a compressed time
frame with minimal costs. To date she has coached nearly 1900
students in the whimsical art of twig craft. She resides in Ottawa
where she continues to make peoples homes look good – both
inside and out.
